Mindy, our executive director, made a very courageous decision in the early 2000s to do a randomized control trial. Now we’re hearing about it all the time, but there wasn't a lot of them done, especially in our field. So it was a big risk. We didn't even think about the term “performance management” then. She was motivated by knowing the facts, knowing the truth. She wanted to make sure we weren't having a negative effect. She just had to know.
